The commissioner was said to have been caught red-handed with Nabegu in an uncompleted building owned by him.

The Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa State, Auwal Danladi Sankara, accused of having sexual affairs with a married woman in the state has denied the allegation.

Sankara, who was allegedly caught by Islamic police, Hisbah, while having an extramarital affair with a married woman identified as Tasleem Baba Nabegu, made the denial in a statement where he threatened to take legal action against his accusers.

SaharaReporters  reported on Friday that the Kano State Hisbah Board announced that Sankara was arrested and detained alongside a married Nabegu for allegedly engaging in extramarital affairs.

The commissioner was said to have been caught red-handed with Nabegu in an uncompleted building owned by him.

The board’s Director General, Dr. Abba Sufi, who announced the arrest, said that the commissioner was arrested following a complaint from the woman’s brother-in-law, accusing Sankara of inappropriate behavior.

Sufi also mentioned that Sankara could face additional charges, including operating illegal drug centers under the names Picklock and 360.

However, in a statement he released on Friday night, Sankara denied the allegations, describing it as false, baseless, and malicious, and claimed that the accusations were a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation.

He said, “My attention has been drawn to a recent media report alleging that I, Auwal D. Sankara, Commissioner for Special Duties in the Jigawa State Government, have been arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command on accusations of having an affair with a married woman.

“I categorically state that these allegations are completely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation.

“I urge the public to disregard this fabricated story, which has been concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity.

“As a married man, I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity. I remain dedicated to upholding the values and principles I stand for.”

Sankara, who vowed to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the false claims, said, “I take this matter seriously and will seek legal redress against those spreading this false information and attempting to harm my person.”
