TCN Chief Executive Officer Sule Abdulaziz disclosed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has revealed that the country supplies 24-hour electricity to neighbouring nations: Togo, Benin, and Niger, even though Nigerian citizens do not enjoy stable power.

TCN Chief Executive Officer Sule Abdulaziz disclosed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme.

“We supply power to Togo, Benin and Niger. We supply them power consistently. They get power from Nigeria on 24-hour basis and they’re paying,” he said.

He added that some Nigerians are also enjoying improvements in electricity supply. He continued: “Nigerians are getting 24-hour electricity supply. Not everybody. Those people in Band A. You’ll see that they get 20-22 hours.

“Some Nigerians are getting 24 hours. Every distribution company has Band A and that is their priority.”

In recent days, numerous households across Nigeria have been left without electricity due to the persistent failure of the national grid.

According to reports, the grid has collapsed three times since last week, resulting in widespread power outages affecting homes and businesses nationwide.

The latest system collapse occurred at 8:40 am Saturday, resulting in the power supply across the grid to drop to zero megawatts (MW) with no electricity transmitter to distribution companies (Discos).

However, the situation report indicated that the grid recorded a partial recovery by 9 am Saturday, supplying 140MW to the Discos.
