Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment on April 12 for violating Nigerian currency laws and completed the term in August.

An investigative panel set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has confirmed that popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, served her six-month prison sentence in full, dismissing allegations of preferential treatment.

Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment on April 12 for violating Nigerian currency laws and completed the term in August.

Following her release, social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, alleged through the publication of a leaked audio recording that Bobrisky did not serve his full term inside the prison walls.

He also alleged that the cross-dresser paid N15 million to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges.

Bobrisky purportedly claimed in the audio that his sentence was cushioned by high-level officials, including the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, allowing him to serve time in a private residence rather than in prison.

In response, the Minister of Interior launched an inquiry on September 30, chaired by Magdalena Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

However, the panel was tasked with investigating corruption claims within the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Presenting the phase one findings on Monday, Uju Agomoh, a member of the panel and Executive Director of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), stated that there was no evidence to support claims that Bobrisky was given special privileges or served her sentence outside prison walls.

He stated, "The panel has not found any evidence so far to suggest that Mr. Okuneye spent any nights outside the custodial center during his imprisonment, which lasted from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024—a six-month correctional sentence with the standard remission applied."

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that Bobrisky was reportedly arrested on Monday morning while attempting to escape to the Benin Republic.

On Monday, VeryDarkMan posted on his social media handle that Bobrisky had been arrested.

A source from Nigeria Immigration Service told SaharaReporters that Bobrisky was arrested by the agency at Seme-Nigerian border during passport check.

His arrest occurred just hours before he was scheduled to attend a Senate panel inquiry meeting regarding allegations against him.

All efforts made by SaharaReporters to get the reaction of the spokesman for the Immigration service, Kenneth Udo, were not successful.
