Streets and major roads in Enugu State on Tuesday morning were completely deserted as residents continue to observe a two-day sit-at-home order by pro-Biafran agitators which started on Monday.
Despite threats by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State to close down schools and businesses that observed the sit-at-home order, SaharaReporters reports that schools including Army Command Secondary School, including other schools owned and operated by the military institutions, police and government establishments were completely shut down in observance to the sit-at-home.
It was observed that streets and major roads including Enugu-Abakaliki expressway, Enugu-Port-Harcourt expressway, Enugu - Onitsha expressway and Enugu - Benue Expressway were deserted with no single security presence on either of the roads.
Inside the Enugu State capital, streets were completely deserted in the morning hours, however, residents who have their own means of movement started coming out from 10:30am.
Meanwhile as at 12pm, roads were still scanty as few private vehicles were seen intermittently passing along Ogui road, Presidential road, Agbani Road, and the ever busy Abakpa Junction.
Businesses, malls and event centres were all closed including petrol stations.
