A 27-year-old Nigerian woman was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a human trafficking and prostitution ring in Limassol, Cyprus.

The arrest follows last Friday’s detention of a 32-year-old Nigerian woman who allegedly held a hierarchical position in the network.

The suspect was brought before the Limassol District Court, where she was remanded in custody for four days. Her attorney, Teresa Christoforou, did not contest the detention order.

Investigators uncovered 13 adult service advertisements linked to the suspect’s bank card, posted on a popular online platform from April 2024 to the present.

During questioning, the woman denied any involvement in the activities, claiming she had lent her bank card to another person for online purchases.

Investigators report that she recruited other women, including the most recent suspect and a previously identified victim, for prostitution activities in a Limassol apartment.

PhileNews reports that, according to police sources, two alleged ringleaders are still at large.

The investigation has uncovered a complex operation involving individuals responsible for renting flats, posting online advertisements, and supplying clothing and accessories for the victims.

Investigators are also encountering difficulties as victims reportedly entered Cyprus irregularly, resulting in a lack of official documentation regarding their true identities.

The Anti-Trafficking Unit of the Cyprus Police is continuing its efforts to identify additional individuals involved in the network.
