Yobe, Ekiti, Rivers States Rank Lowest With N1000 Per Capita Spending On Education – Report

The report further noted, “On a per capita basis, 12 states spent N2,200 per capita on education. Furthermore, eight states spent below N1,000 per capita on education. 

 

A state by state report by BudgIT Foundation, a civic-tech organisation, has revealed that Yobe, Ekiti, Nasarawa, Rivers and Cross River states ranked worst with less than N1000 per capita spending on Education in 2022.

 

The report stated that Niger and Delta states top the list with over N11,000 per capita spending on Education in 2022. 

 

The report further noted, “On a per capita basis, 12 states spent N2,200 per capita on education. Furthermore, eight states spent below N1,000 per capita on education. 

 

“In 2022, Benue State spent 14.04% on education, translating to N1,508.52 and N2,189.91 per capita spending on health and education, respectively. On a per capita basis, Katsina state spent N2,727.77 on education.”

 

According to the report, Niger State ranked first with N11,601.92, followed by Delta which spent N11,201.43, while Imo State came third with N8,831.69; Gombe came fourth with N8,187.52; Ondo State came fifth with N7,904.37, and Bayelsa, and Kwara came sixth and seventh with N7,761.16 and N7,232.84 respectively.

 

Others are; Adamawa State which recorded N6,749.12 per capita spending on education; Benue state spent N6,478.86; Lagos which came 10th with N5,779.72; Zamfara state spent N5,353.87; Osun state spent N4,732.29; Taraba state spent N4,481.43; Ogun state spent N4,472.68; Kano State spent N4,293.03; Jigawa spent N4,075.67, while Ebonyi state spent N4,058.01.

 

Also, the report stated that Borno state recorded N4,047.23 on per capita spending on education, while Akwa Ibom recorded N4,039.54 per capita spending on education. Plateau state spent N4,027.45; Sokoto state was N3,750.10; Katsina was N3,394.68; Anambra state was N3,391.61; Edo state was N3,280.52; Kaduna state was N2,727.77 and Bauchi recorded N2,257.56 on per capita spending on Education.

 

Other states are Oyo which the report said it spent N2,189.91; Kogi state spent N2,186.99; Enugu state spent N2,088.09; Kebbi state was N2,052.59; Cross River was N1,754.44; Rivers State was N1,738.47; Nasarawa state was 1,116.95; Ekiti state was N998.88, while Yobe state came last with N913.78.
