A truck belonging to the Dangote Group lost control on Friday, killing one person and injuring two others in the Maryland area of Lagos State.

Meanwhile, the driver of the JustRite truck, who was loading goods into his vehicle at the time, lost his life on the spot due to the impact.
Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that after the initial collision, the Dangote truck veered off course and crashed into a nearby building, causing injuries to two additional victims.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene, but the driver of the JustRite truck was declared dead.
Oke-Osanyintolu said that the Iinvestigations into the cause of the brake failure are ongoing, while the injured victims are receiving treatment in a local hospital.
According to him, "The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, in response to distress calls via 767/112 Toll-Free lines at 1208hrs, activated the LRT from Command and Control Centre, Alausa,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
“Upon arrival of the Tiger Response Team at the incident scene, discovered an accident involving a MACK concrete mixer truck Registration number DGW 208 XA belonging to DANGOTE company and a TATA truck, registration number SMK 906 YE.”
Oke-Osanyintolu explained that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Police Officers mobilised to the scene of the accident.
He attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure.
“Investigation conducted by the response team revealed that the Dangote truck suffered mechanical failure (brakes) lost control and crashed into a JUSTRITE truck, whose driver was loading items before it further rammed into the building beside the road and crashed into two people in the process.
"The injured victims were transported to Gbagada General Hospital for immediate medical attention, while the body of the deceased driver was handed over to the family," Oke-Osanyintolu added.
