Kano Governor's Spokesperson Loses Son After Bone Marrow Transplant In India

Sadiq, who had battled sickle cell anaemia from birth, underwent a bone marrow transplant.

 

Kano State's Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa has announced the passing of his 15-year-old son, Sadiq Modibbo Bature, following a bone marrow transplant surgery in India.

Sadiq, who had battled sickle cell anaemia from birth, underwent a bone marrow transplant.

However, just days after the procedure, he succumbed to post-surgery complications that affected his brain.

The tragic news was shared by Sanusi Bature on his social media page, where he described Sadiq as a bright and well-behaved young boy who endured a lifetime of pain due to the condition.

The spokesperson for Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf shared his grief, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of his first child.

“Throughout his life, Modibbo has suffered from sickle cell anaemia which he undergone a successful bone marrow transplant this month in an Indian hospital. Unfortunately, he died as a result of a post-surgery complications in his brain.

 

“The body of our beloved Saddiku would be brought back home in few days for burial in according with Islamic rites in my home town, Dawakin-Tofa. Date and time would be announced on arrival of his remains,” he said.

 

He is expected to be buried according to Islamic rites at Dawakin Tofa town in the coming weekend.

Meanwhile, sympathies and tributes continue to pour in for the spokesperson after the heartbreaking loss of his child.

Mukhtar Yahya Usman wrote on Facebook, “I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family on the heartbreaking loss of your beloved son, Sadiq (Modibbo) Bature. 

“This is truly a profound and painful loss, and I am deeply saddened by the news.

“Sadiq, with his bright spirit and obedient nature, faced the trials of life with immense courage and grace. 

“He endured the challenges of sickle cell anemia with resilience and recently took the brave step of undergoing a bone marrow transplant in the hope of living a healthier life.”

Hamza Ibrahim Baba wrote, “This is to announce the death of our son Sadiq Modibbo- the eldest son of Sanusi Bature D-Tofa in far away India after undergoing bone marrow transplant.

“May the Almighty Allah SWT forgive him and accept his SHAHADA. May Aljannat Alfirdaus be his final abode.

“Alhaji Sanusi and Hajiya Aminatu please take heart. May Allah reward you for all you have done to him, for all your efforts to save his life.”
