The Nigerian Senate has begun the screening process of the seven newly nominated ministers by President Bola Tinubu.

Last week, in a statement issued by the presidency, President Tinubu had announced the sacking of five ministers.
They were; Uju-Ken Ohanenye, the former minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, the former minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman, the minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, minister of state, Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim, minister of Youth Development.
The statement also revealed the appointment of seven newly appointed ministers, who would still have to be confirmed by the Senate.
They are; Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Dingyadi, Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu, Jumoke Oduwole, Idi Maiha, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Suwaiba Ahmad.
The presidency hadsaid the dismissal and appointments were part of “eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the Administration’s capacity for optimal efficiency pursuant of his commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.”
The newly appointed ministers cannot resume their duties officially unless they are confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
