Operatives of the Nigerian Army on Thursday stormed the major streets of Lagos State to clamp down on motorists and road users using military stickers and headgear on their vehicles.
This was confirmed in a post shared on X by the State Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin while reacting to a complaint raised by another user, Ayo FBI over alleged harassment from the military personnel.
The X user had said: “Men of Nigerian Army are currently harassing civilians at Brown junction, Aguda Surulere.
“They pulled me over for no reason and their lead who wore a MP armband said he will delay me, make me follow them round Lagos for their patrol and waste my fuel. This is nothing but an abuse of power.”
The police spokesperson said the residents should not be afraid of the huge presence of the military men on the road.
He said, “Thanks for promptly calling our attention to this. We have verified. The military police are moving round Lagos State to clamp down on motorists using military stickers and having military headgear in front of their vehicles.
“Lagosians are urged not to exercise fear as @LagosPoliceNG is fully there for you.”
