The flight, which took off at 12:50pm, was forced to return to Benin Airport as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all onboard.
Passengers aboard Air Peace flight P47152 from Benin to Abuja narrowly escaped a potential disaster on Monday when the aircraft returned shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue.
The flight, which took off at 12:50pm, was forced to return to Benin Airport as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all onboard.
In an official statement, Dr. Ejike Nduilo, the airline's Head of Corporate Communications, confirmed the incident and emphasised that the decision to return was made in the interest of passenger safety.
"We are committed to the highest safety standards and will not compromise on the well-being of our passengers," he stated.
He noted that upon landing safely back in Benin, all passengers disembarked without incident.
According to Nduilo, “Our maintenance team is currently troubleshooting the cause of the issue,” Dr. Nduilo stated.
“We are dispatching a replacement aircraft to Benin to minimise disruptions and enable passengers to continue their journeys as soon as possible.”
He, however, extended an appeal for understanding from affected passengers and those facing delays and reiterated its commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
