Amid the war between Russia and United States-backed Unkraine, the office of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has revealed that the administration has no plan to immediately congratulate Donald Trump for emerging victorious in the elections.

According to the Kremlin, Russia still views the United States as an unfriendly country towards it.

Dmitry Peskov who speaks on behalf of Putin said relations between the two countries were at a historic low, and that it was practically impossible for them to get any worse.

According to the spokesperson, Moscow is watching events closely and analysing statements made by American politicians about Russia.

The Russian government said it also urged people not to forget that the US is "directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state."

Trump defeated Kamala Harris in a keenly contested United States election.

Russia statements come amid outpour of congratulations by world leaders.

Trump emerged for a second non-consecutive time, having served as the United States of America President, once.

The crisis between Russia and Ukraine has continued unabated, it remains unclear the impact the United States election win for Trump would mean for the conflict.
