Police Officer Killed In Lagos During Multiple Crash On Kara Bridge

It was learnt that the accident which happened on Thursday involved a goods-laden Volvo truck, a Toyota HiAce bus, and a Mercedes bus.

A police officer attached to Mopol 20 Division in Lagos State has reportedly died in a road at Kara Bridge, along Berger area of the State. 

 

It was learnt that the accident which happened on Thursday involved a goods-laden Volvo truck, a Toyota HiAce bus, and a Mercedes bus.

 

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) permanent secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu in a statement said the agency’s investigations revealed that the truck crashed into the Mercedes Benz bus while on motion, swerved off the road, and fell on the Toyota Hiace bus parked by the roadside.

 

Oke-Osanyintolu asserted that the police officer, attached to the Mopol 20, got trapped and died in the crash while he was on riding on his motorcycle, noting that the body of the officer had been taken to Ojodu police station for further processing. 

 

The statement reads in part; "Following distress calls via it's 767/112 Toll Free Emergency numbers at 0644hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated its Response Team from the Command Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

 

"Upon arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the incident scene, it discovered a Volvo Truck, registration number FKJ 484 YA, laden with goods headed inward Arepo, a Toyota Hi Ace Bus, registration number BWR 371 XC and a Mercedes Bus, registration number unknown, were involved in a road accident.

 

"Investigations conducted by the LRT revealed that the truck crashed into a Mercedes Benz Bus while on motion, swerved off the road and fell uncontrollably on a Toyota Hi Ace bus parked by the roadside. 

 

"A police officer attached to Mopol 20 Division manoeuvring his way back to office on his motorcycle, got trapped by the incident and died instantly."
