General Oluyede conveyed the sorrow felt within the Nigerian Army following the tragic death of its leader.
The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, confirmed on Wednesday night that President Bola Tinubu took all possible measures to save the life of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
In an emotional address to journalists, General Oluyede conveyed the sorrow felt within the Nigerian Army following the tragic death of its leader.
He explained the efforts of the administration to preserve the life of Lagbaja, acknowledging the loss as a deeply regrettable moment for the nation.
“His death is highly regrettable,” General Oluyede remarked. “Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the country did everything possible to keep him with us. He was someone who gave his all to Nigeria.”
Oluyede described Lagbaja as a “selfless leader” and a man of “passionate dedication to Nigeria,” adding, “He led the Nigerian Army with courage, thoroughness, and professionalism. His loss is a profound one for us, and we pray that the good Lord grants him eternal rest.”
The Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS) called on Nigerians to honour Lagbaja’s legacy, emphasizing his unwavering commitment and contributions to the nation. “I urge Nigerians to celebrate him for the remarkable work he did,” Oluyede said.
