These appointments, along with the existing role of Special Adviser, Information and Strategy , underscore that there is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency.

President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson for the 2023 Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, as his Special Adviser, Policy Communication, making the former PDP member, one of the spokespersons for the presidency.

SaharaReporters had last week reported that Tinubu appointed Bwala, his former fierce critic in the PDP as his Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication.

In another release by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) on Monday evening, Bwala has been reappointed alongside Sunday Dare, and the three of them would now collectively serve as spokespersons for the government.

He said, "President Bola Tinubu has re-designated the positions of two recently appointed officials in the State House media and communications team to enhance efficiency within the government's communication machinery.

"The restructuring is as follows: 1. Mr. Sunday Dare – hitherto Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation is now Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.

"2. Mr. Daniel Bwala – announced last week as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, is now Special Adviser Policy Communication.

"These appointments, along with the existing role of Special Adviser, Information and Strategy , underscore that there is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency.

"Instead, all the three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons for the government.

"This approach aims to ensure effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements."

Bwala was well-known for his criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)'s Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

SaharaReporters had reported that Bwala, in July 2022, quit the ruling party over its decision to for a Muslim-Muslim ticket, with Bola Tinubu and Kashima Shettima as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

Both Tinubu and Shettima are Muslims.

He had publicly berated Tinubu’s choice of Shettima as his running mate, describing it as insensitive towards the principle of secularism in the country.

His subsequent defection to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earned him the chance to work for the party’s presidential campaign team against Tinubu.

In one of his interviews with Channels Television, Bwala alleged that the 2023 presidential election was rigged by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to favour Tinubu.

He said, “The biggest culprit, the biggest problem in the 2023 elections across all levels, is INEC, because have you seen the mystery of INEC?

“In this 2023 election, INEC will certify a document for you, INEC will be in the court raising objection and the court has never cautioned them.”

“So, we will get to perfection, but this election regime has left so much to be desired,” he added.

He went further to lambast the courts for upholding the results announced by INEC, which affirmed the election of Tinubu.
