Shatta said the invasion destroyed approximately 80% of his beans crop, leading to a catastrophic financial and emotional loss.
A farmer, Abdulkadir Shatta, has recounted the destruction of his 2-hectare beans farm in Shatta village, Bosso Local Government Area, Minna, Niger State, by cattle owned by armed herdsmen.
SaharaReporters learnt that the invasion took place on Friday, causing tension in the community as the herdsmen appeared to have been emboldened in the resurgent attacks.
“I experienced a devastating incident at Shatta village in Bosso Local Government, Minna, Niger State. I had invested a substantial amount of time, money, and effort into my 2-hectare farm, cultivating beans with high hopes for a bountiful harvest,” Shatta explained to SaharaReporters.
Shatta said the invasion destroyed approximately 80% of his beans crop, leading to a catastrophic financial and emotional loss.
“Tragically, my dreams were shattered when unknown Fulani herdsmen's cattle invaded my farm, destroying approximately 80% of my beans crop,” he lamented.
The farmer had anticipated harvesting 10 to 15 bags of beans, each worth N400,000, from the farm.
“The crops were ravaged by cattle, likely belonging to the local Fulani community, who reside in the area with their livestock,” Shatta said.
