Meanwhile, the North-Central region is expected to see sunny skies under a hazy atmosphere for the entire three days.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a three-day weather outlook of sunshine and dust haze across Nigeria, starting from Monday to Wednesday.
In a weather update released on Sunday, NiMet forecasted slight dust haze for the northern region on Monday, with localised visibility ranging from 2km to 5km.
The northern region will continue to experience the haze throughout the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the North-Central region is expected to see sunny skies under a hazy atmosphere for the entire three days.
In contrast, the southern region will experience sunny skies with patches of clouds, with thunderstorms and light rain expected in parts of Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States during the afternoon and evening hours.
However, on Tuesday, NiMet predicts moderate dust haze with reduced visibility of less than 1000 meters in the northern region.
The North-Central region will maintain slight dust haze, while the southern region is set for more sunny spells with occasional thunderstorms later in the day.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted light rains over parts of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.
"On Wednesday, the northern region is expected to experience moderate dust haze, with localized visibility of less than 1000 meters throughout the day.
"In the North Central region, slight dust haze is anticipated, with localized visibility ranging from 2km to 5km during the forecast period.
"In the southern region, sunny skies with occasional cloud patches are expected, along with possible afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Light rains are forecasted for parts of Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States," the report stated.
NiMet also warned that dust particles are suspended in the air, urging the public to take necessary precautions. Individuals with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, should exercise caution due to the current weather conditions.
The agency advised residents to be alert, as strong winds may precede rainfall in areas where thunderstorms are expected.
"Follow safety guidelines provided by relevant authorities. Airline operators are encouraged to check airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for proper flight planning.
"Residents are urged to stay updated on weather conditions by visiting NiMet's website," it added.
