Fire Guts Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria In Lagos, Destroys Major Property

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) office in Ikoyi, Lagos State, has been razed by an inferno which also destroyed several significant property.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted to the fire incident at about 5:30 pm, noting that firefighters from Dolphin and Ebute Elefun were the first responders.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) also said it activated its Response Team from Lekki.

"Upon arrival of the Shark Response Team at the incident scene by 1833hrs, it was discovered that a two (2) storey and a storey building consisting of control rooms, music and radio studio were engulfed with fire at aforementioned location.

"Investigations conducted by Agency's Response Team revealed that the fire started from an air conditioner unit before escalating to the adjoining buildings," LASEMA said.

"The fire was swiftly combated by the emergency responders at the incident scene. Valuable properties were salvaged during the recovery operation. The fire affected three (3) studios. The roofs of the buildings suffered significant damages. Several offices in the storey building were also affected. Property lost to the inferno were significant," Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said in the statement on behalf of LASEMA.
