A female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has accused some staff of the Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, Kwara State, of beating and assaulting her.
According to a source who was privy to the situation, the incident occurred when the corps member visited the school to collect her clearance letter.
SaharaReporters could not yet get the name of the assaulted female corps member but one of the teachers had accused her of "not greeting properly."
“A teacher said she did not greet well and that was how it all started. The teacher beat her and tore her clothes,” the source said.
The event has sparked concerns about the safety and well-being of corps members stationed in the state.
When contacted, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Carol Lembu, told SaharaReporters that the incident was currently being resolved.
”It is being addressed accordingly. Thank you,” she told SaharaReporters on Friday morning.
