How Simon Ekpa Threatened Me, Claiming I Didn't Support Biafra – Senator Orji Kalu

Kalu disclosed that Ekpa repeatedly called and threatened him, but he chose to ignore the threats.

Orji Kalu, the senator representing Abia North, has revealed that Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed prime minister of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), threatened him for not supporting the Biafra agitation.

During an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Kalu disclosed that Ekpa repeatedly called and threatened him, but he chose to ignore the threats.

“Simon Ekpa was calling and threatening me that I don’t support Biafra, but I left him to his conscience,” he said.

The lawmaker emphasised the importance of intelligence in combating crime, urging security agencies to adopt proactive measures.

“I am very strong-willed when it comes to security, and I can do anything to safeguard the lives and property of the people I rule.”

He also encouraged the South-East governors to adopt a firm stance against crime.

“You must be a strong leader to condemn crime, and I eradicated crime. No governor should tolerate any type of crime in his state; it is not allowed.”

Kalu’s remarks come after reports emerged that Finnish authorities arrested Ekpa on November 21.

The pro-Biafra agitator was sent to prison by the district court of Päijät-Häme for spreading terrorist propaganda on social media.

The court has set May 2025 for the prosecution to file formal charges against Ekpa.
