Sowore's warning came as the Nigerian police under Egbetokun illegally arrested and arraigned Abiodun Olamide Thomas, a female activist, for allegedly insulting Seyi, President Bola Tinubu's son, on social media.

Human rights activist and convener of #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has warned that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is creating conditions that will make another #EndSARS protest inevitable.

Sowore's warning came as the Nigerian police under Egbetokun illegally arrested and arraigned Abiodun Olamide Thomas, a female activist, for allegedly insulting Seyi, President Bola Tinubu's son, on social media.

Sowore had condemned Thomas's arrest and incarceration, calling it illegal.

The former presidential candidate criticised the police boss, stating that his actions were pushing the country towards another #EndSARS protest.

Sowore also highlighted the ongoing human rights violations by the police, which he believed would ultimately lead to another nationwide protest.

The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), who took to his X handle to express his contempt, stated that the IG Egbetokun was "working tirelessly" towards another EndSARS protest.

He wrote: "The illegal IG of Nigeria Police Force, Kayode Egbetokun will make the next #ENDSARS inevitable! He is working tirelessly towards it. Just a matter of time! #EgbetokunMustGo".

The #EndSARS movement began in 2020 as a call to end police brutality and reform the Nigerian Police Force.

The movement gained widespread support and led to protests across the country.

Sowore's warning suggests that the conditions that led to the initial #EndSARS protest had not changed, and another protest might be imminent.

SaharaReporters reported earlier on Friday that the Nigerian police arraigned Olamide Abiodun Thomas, the female activist, on three criminal charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The charges centred on allegations that Olamide Thomas insulted the President Bola Tinubu's son, Seyi and top police officials, including Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and Police Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, in a viral social media post.

The case, with suit number F/HE/ARS/CR/636/2024, lists the Inspector General of Police as the complainant.

Presiding over the matter, Justice Emeka Nwite ordered Olamide to be remanded in prison following her arraignment on Friday.

The activist was arrested last week ago and has since been in police custody.

One of the counts reads, "That you OLAMIDE ABIODUN THOMAS 'F', sometime in 2024, in the Federal Republic of Nigeria within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did knowingly and intentionally transmit or cause the transmission of communication in the form of video recording through computer system or network on your Social media platforms wherein you made remarks in Yoruba language stating that Mr. Seyi Tinubu will die this year, and misfortune and calamity has befallen the Tinubu family, with intent to bully, threaten, harass the person of Mr. Seyi Tinubu, where such communication places the said Mr. Seyi Tinubu in fear of death, violence or bodily harm and you thereby commit an offence contrary to and punishable under section 24 (2) (a) Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.”
