Darlington was arrested in Owerri, Imo State for alleged cyberbullying against his colleague and Grammy Award winning singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arraignment of singer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, who has been in police detention in Abuja since November.

Darlington was arrested in Owerri, Imo State for alleged cyberbullying against his colleague and Grammy Award winning singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.

The detained singer’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who made this known on his social media account on Monday, said the court ordered Darlington’s arraignment within 48 hours after granting their fundamental rights, FREP application.

Adeyanju said, “Our FREP application for Speed Darlington aka has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hrs or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail.”

SaharaReporters in November reported that the Nigeria Police Force had moved Darlington, also known as "Akpi" from Owerri, Imo State, to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Top sources revealed to SaharaReporters that Dasuki Galadanchi, the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) in charge of the Force Intelligence Department had personally taken over Darlington’s case files from the police unit that arrested him.

Adeyanju on November 27 confirmed that Burna Boy was behind Darlington’s harassment and arrest by the police in Owerri on November 26.

Adeyanju had berated Burna Boy for oppressing Darlington despite producing songs against oppression.
