SaharaReporters last Wednesday broke the news about how tragedy struck at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan when a stampede occurred during a children's Christmas party.
Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, was a key organiser of the tragic children's festive party.
Additionally, Agidigbo 88.7 FM, owned by Oriyomi Hamzat, had actively promoted the event in the days leading up to the devastating incident.
Silekunola is among the three individuals remanded in custody by the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan.
They face charges of conspiracy, acts of neglect causing harm, and failure to ensure adequate security and medical facilities at a funfair event where a tragic stampede claimed the lives of 35 children last week.
Mrs Funmilayo Ogunseyi, who was featured on Daddy Freeze's Instagram live video on Thursday, stated that only four security officers were there at the scene of the incident.
She stated that the organisers had already agreed with Oyo Police Command to deploy their personnel at the event around 8am, but the celebration had already descended into chaos before the police arrived.
She said, “Our plan was that the police should arrive by 8am. But our personal security was there (during the stampede). We had two policemen and two bouncers, they were there at the event that early morning. Our security men slept overnight at the venue.”
