Themba Lawrence Gorimbo, a Zimbabwean professional mixed martial artist has revealed that several of his cousins celebrated his loss to Vicente Luque at UFC 310.

He said this happened because he didn’t send them money.

Recently, Gorimbo was defeated by Brazilian Vicente Luque, who only needed 52 seconds to beat him in an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States.

Gorimbo, whose defeat is the fastest in UFC fight history as it lasted less than a minute said this on his Facebook page after the fight.

“I will dust myself up and make my comeback. Yes, I am gutted now but I know I will be okay, God brought me this far to succeed and inspire.

“This is part of the story, it sucks but hey I live to fight another day,” he said.

Gorimbo while speaking in an interview video posted on African Facts, said he would dust himself up and make comeback.

“When I go online, like one of my cousins, I can’t speak his name, but he messaged me that day.

“After I lost this last fight, some of my cousins were celebrating my loss; they were all celebrating my loss. He sent me a video of them in a place where we were 15 years ago. Just this small circle in Danone.

“It’s a slum, like you call it, a slum. These cousins were celebrating my loss, and do you know how much that eats you? Because all I do is try to do better for everybody. I might not directly help you, but I want to build a well for the community. Then, one person gets angry, “Why did you build the well close to this guy’s house and not this house?” People think that I’m in the UFC and I’m a millionaire; I’m not.”

Prior to the quick submission loss to Luque, Gorimbo was on a four-fight winning streak, scoring wins over Takashi Sato, Pete Rodriguez, Ramiz Brahimaj and Niko Price.

Nicknamed The Answer, Gorimbo’s wish of closing the year 2024 undefeated was shattered by Luque’s anaconda trap, which saw him losing via submission.
