Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of launching a massive attack on his country, using drones.
In a post on Sunday, Zelenskyy said on Saturday night, 103 shahed drones were launched against the country.
The drone was said to contain 8,755 foreign components.
“Almost every day, we defend our skies against Russian missiles and drones. Just last night, Ukraine was attacked by 103 Shahed drones, which contained 8,755 foreign-made components,” he said.
The statement also noted that in one week, Russia launched strikes against Ukraine using more than 630 strike drones, approximately 740 guided aerial bombs and nearly fifty missiles of different types.
“Over the past week, Russia has used more than 630 strike drones, approximately 740 guided aerial bombs, and nearly 50 missiles of various types – totaling over 50,000 sanctioned components sourced from around the world,” Zelenskyy said.
“The sanctions pressure on supply chains for foreign components remains insufficient. Russia continues to acquire the components and manufacturing tools it needs – almost globally – and uses them in the weapons it employs to terrorize Ukraine.
“We must continue strengthening cooperation with all our partners on sanctions, air defense systems, long-range weapons, and support for our warriors.”
“These priorities will help protect our cities, villages, and positions on the frontline. I am grateful to every partner helping us with this,” the statement added.
Amid hopes of a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, the conflict between both countries continues to escalate unabatedly.
Zelenskyy also accused the Russian army of launching 300 attack drones and around 20 missiles within three days.
He said, “Recently, in just the first three days of the new year, the Russian army has launched over 300 attack drones and around 20 missiles, including ballistic ones, against Ukrainian cities and villages.
“A large amount was shot down or neutralized by our forces using electronic warfare means.
“However, unfortunately, there have been hits, resulting in casualties and injuries. My condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
“Additionally, daily strikes continue with Russian guided aerial bombs.
“Such Russian terror, which continues with unrelenting intensity, requires both us and all our partners not to reduce efforts in strengthening our air defense shield and all its systemic components—from Patriot systems to mobile fire groups.
“We must consistently replenish our stock of missiles for air defense and continuously enhance the capabilities of mobile fire groups. I am grateful to all our partners who are helping.
“We are preparing for meetings and negotiations next week to further strengthen our air defense. The schedule for this work has already been preliminarily agreed upon.”
