A security source revealed that the deceased student, whose identity remains unknown, was carrying a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated.

Tragedy struck at the Kuchibuyi Community, Kubwa, Abuja, on Monday when an explosion at an Islamiyyah school claimed the life of one student and injured four others.

It was gathered that the deceased student, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, bore a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated, causing chaos within the school premises.

Premium Times reports that the emergency and security personnel, including a police bomb disposal squad, have arrived at the scene of an explosion, with injured victims rushed to the hospital for treatment.

A security source revealed that the deceased student, whose identity remains unknown, was carrying a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated.

The explosion injured other students and caused widespread panic at the scene.

The source also disclosed that the students involved were recently admitted to the school, having resumed on January 3, 2025.
However, the police have yet to issue a statement on the incident, leaving details of the explosion unclear.
