February 5, 2025

Reliable sources familiar with the Operation told SaharaReporters that Commander Bamaiyi who took over command on January 15, 2025, started his activities with some illegalities including altering the originally cleared Contingents list sent from Abuja.

The new Commander (G1) of the Immigration Component of Operation Hadin Kai operating in the North East, Maiduguri Joint Task Force (JTF), DSI Pankyes Tanko Bamaiyi, has been caught in the web of alleged manipulation of the Operation’s Contingents list.

Reliable sources familiar with the Operation told SaharaReporters that Commander Bamaiyi who took over command on January 15, 2025, started his activities with some illegalities including altering the originally cleared Contingents list sent from Abuja.

One of the sources told SaharaReporters that Commander Bamaiyi altered the Batch 13 list of Cleared Contingents and Batch 12 Retained Contingents list which summed up to a total of 133 contingents.

This comprises of 123 Cleared Contingents and 10 Retained Contingents, by adding two of his stooges, increasing the number of the Contingents to 135.

The source said, “The new Commander (G1) of  the Immigration Component of Operation Hadin kai NE Maiduguri (JTF), DSI Pankyes Tanko Bamaiyi, took over on 15-01-2025, but started with some illegalities.

“The real number on normal roll of the cleared and retained contingents sent from Abuja is 233, but he illegally added two officers to make it 235.

“That is against what service sent. Also, he released two personnel, which would have maintained the list at 233 but he still replaced them with another two, and all of them are from the same state.”

According to the sources, Commander Bamaiyi added Ibrahim Baba with rank CIA, NIS-30530, and Goden Nemposema with rank CIA, NIS-32801, to the list, both from Jos, Plateau State.

The sources also told SaharaReporters that two personnel, Lamara Babale with rank IA2, NIS 41057 and Isa Salihu with rank IA2, NIS-41055, left the Operation and Commander Bamaiyi replaced them with Peter Danaan with rank NIS-32213 from Jos and Macah Seyi with rank NIS-21297 from Kaduna state, without due approval from the headquarters in Abuja.

“Commander DSI Pankyes Tanko Bamaiyi did not even contact the headquarters in Abuja before replacing the two personnel that decided to leave the Operation. The same way he did not get the approval from the headquarters to add the two personnel he added.

“At this point, I don’t even know where the two personnel who left are, whether they went back to the headquarters or their former place of primary assignment,” one of the sources said.

Efforts to get the reactions from the command were not successful as of the time of filing this report.
