Egypt reaffirmed its "complete rejection of such irresponsible statements in their entirety."
The Arab Republic of Egypt has rejected and described the Israeli government's plan to displace the Palestinian people as a blatant and flagrant violation of international law.
Egypt in a statement cautioned against the catastrophic consequences of such actions, warning that they undermine ceasefire negotiations and threaten regional stability.
Egypt reaffirmed its "complete rejection of such irresponsible statements in their entirety."
It warned that any plan aiming to eliminate the Palestinian cause through forced displacement was "an injustice and violation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."
"Egypt also stresses the necessity of addressing the root causes of the conflict, which lies in the existence of a people under occupation for decades during which they have suffered all forms of displacement, oppression, and discrimination," the statement read.
"Egypt reiterates the necessity to implement the ceasefire in Gaza in its three phases on a permanent basis," it added.
Egypt further emphasised that it would not be a party to any proposal seeking to uproot Palestinians from their historic homeland.
It vowed to work with international partners to support early recovery efforts, the removal of rubble, and reconstruction within a specific timeframe.
The statement also noted that Palestinians have shown firm attachment to their homeland and refuse to abandon it.
"This situation must immediately end and the Palestinian people must enjoy their inalienable rights in accordance with international legal frameworks," it stressed.
Egypt's rejection comes amid growing concerns that any forced displacement could escalate tensions across the region.
The country reaffirmed its commitment to peace while calling on the international community to hold those responsible accountable.
Egypt's position aligns with its long-standing support for Palestinian rights and its mediation efforts in ceasefire negotiations.
It warned that any move to forcibly displaced Palestinians would only provoke further conflict and destabilise the region.
It therefore urged immediate action to prevent any forced displacement and ensure Palestinians' right to remain in their homeland is upheld.
On Wednesday, the United Nations expressed shock over United States’ President Donald Trump’s proposal to take over Gaza and resettle its population.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for the plan.
Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, expressed surprise over the proposal, described it as a “very surprising” development that raised more questions than answers.
Speaking in Brussels on Wednesday, Grandi explained that the lack of clarity around the specifics of Trump’s idea made it difficult to provide a detailed response to what is a “sensitive issue.”
“It’s something very surprising, but we have to see what it means in concrete terms,” Grandi said.
Trump’s announcement was made on Tuesday during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, prompting audible gasps from the audience.
