Frustrated by the unsafe learning environment, parents have begun withdrawing their children from school.

For five years, children in Aiyetoro, Ile-Ife Central, Osun State, have been learning under a collapsed school building, Tracka, BudgIt’s public expenditure tracking platform, has revealed.

“Imagine learning under a building with broken walls and no roof over your head—this is the reality of Aiyetoro children,” Tracka stated, highlighting the dire condition of St Philip's Academy, which was destroyed by a wind burst.

Despite repeated efforts by teachers and parents, the school has remained in ruins.

“All efforts of both teachers and parents have been futile,” Tracka said.

Frustrated by the unsafe learning environment, parents have begun withdrawing their children from school.

“Parents are now withdrawing their children from school to sit at home,” the organisation added.

Tracka has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to intervene, urging key stakeholders, including Honorable Ajilesoro Taofeek, representing Ife Federal Constituency, and Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, to take immediate action.

“We implore your office, Osun State Government…to prioritise the construction of this school so that children of Aiyetoro can return to school,” Tracka pleaded.

The prolonged neglect of St Philip's Academy has raised concerns over the state of education infrastructure in rural communities, with many schools lacking proper facilities.

Local residents have expressed frustration over the lack of government intervention, questioning why the school has remained in ruins for half a decade.

The issue has sparked discussions on social media, with many Nigerians demanding urgent action from the government.

As of now, the Osun State Government has not issued an official response to the calls for reconstruction.
