Kaduna Man Tortured To Death By Vigilantes Over Theft Suspicion

Sources revealed that Bello was arrested on April 2, 2025, by a security guard at Old Panteka market on suspicion of theft. 

A 21-year-old man, Abba Bello, has reportedly died after being tortured by a vigilante group in Tudun Nupawa area of Kaduna State. 

Sources revealed that Bello was arrested on April 2, 2025, by a security guard at Old Panteka market on suspicion of theft. 

He was allegedly subjected to severe beatings under the supervision of Abdullahi Usman, described as a suspected commander of the group. 

The torture left Bello unconscious and in critical condition, a security analyst, Zagazola Makama reports. 

According to the the report, the victim was first rushed to Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital. 

Despite medical intervention, Bello was said to had succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of April 4, 2025, at approximately 5am  

The deceased’s family declined a post-mortem examination, and his body was released for burial in accordance with their wishes.  

Police authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the suspects, including Usman and others linked to the incident.
