The Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa Idowu, visited the site shortly after the blast for an immediate assessment.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into an explosion that rocked a CCTV dealer’s shop on Kodesho Street, near the popular Computer Village in Ikeja.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Friday, sending shockwaves through the commercial area.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State, confirmed the incident and provided details in a statement.
He said that operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, the Mobile Police Detachment, and other police teams swiftly responded to the scene, cordoning off the area to protect both lives and property.
“The scene of the explosion and adjoining areas were immediately taken over and cordoned off by operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, the Mobile Police Detachment, and conventional Lagos State Police Command teams.
"To ensure safety and prevent further risks, EOD specialists conducted a sweep of the area to neutralize any potential secondary threats. This was part of a wider effort to support a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion."

He assured the public that the situation was under control, urging calm and confirming that residents could go about their daily activities without fear.
“People can go about their lawful activities without fear,” the commissioner said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that five people, who were either inside or in the vicinity of the shop at the time of the explosion, sustained injuries of varying degrees.
However, they were promptly transported to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical treatment.
"The Command hereby wishes to assure the general public of its commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout the state," Hundeyin added.
