The AAC said the unnecessary spendings come at a time when the state and the country are grappling with insecurity, hunger, and widespread hardship.
The African Action Congress (AAC), Anambra State chapter, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Anambra State for the commissioning of the new governor’s lodge and “Solution Fun City,” describing the events as a wasteful display of extravagance.
The AAC said the unnecessary spendings come at a time when the state and the country are grappling with insecurity, hunger, and widespread hardship.
In a statement released Friday and signed by AAC's 2025 governorship candidate in Anambra, Chioma Ifemeludike, the party condemned what it called, misplaced priorities by Governor Charles Soludo’s administration and accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) of aligning with a Nigerian government that has failed the Nigerian people.
“It is disheartening that President Tinubu would honour an invitation to commission projects that do not in any way tackle nor address the pressing issues affecting Ndi Anambra,” said Ifemeludike.
“While the people are living in fear and despair due to rising insecurity, hunger, and human rights abuses, our leaders are busy celebrating frivolities.”
The AAC statement described the projects — the new Governor’s Lodge and Solution Fun City — as “frippery” and criticised the timing of the visit as politically motivated, suggesting it could be part of a broader plan to influence the upcoming 2025 gubernatorial elections in the state.
“This so-called APGA-APC alliance is clearly not about the well-being of the people. It is an unholy merger driven by vested political interests,” the statement read.
“You scratch my back, I scratch yours — that seems to be the rationale behind Soludo’s open endorsement of Tinubu for the 2027 presidential race.”
Ifemeludike further accused the federal and Anambra State governments of corruption, nepotism, and failing to uphold the rule of law.
She also criticised the alleged marginalisation of the South-East region, calling it a deliberate policy by the federal government under Tinubu.
“Does Mr Soludo need to be reminded about the continuedmarginalisation of Ndi-Igbo at the federal level?” Ifemeludike said.
“The Soludo and Tinubu administrations have woefully failed Ndi Anambra and Nigerians by neglecting their core duty — the protection of lives and property.”
Calling on the people of Anambra to remain vigilant, the AAC urged residents to reject political gimmicks and hold their leaders accountable.
The party also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the November 2025 governorship election is transparent and truly reflects the will of the people.
“We urge Ndi Anambra to pay close attention to what is happening before their eyes. This is not governance; this is political prostitution,” the statement added.
“AAC is here to liberate the people from these shackles of poor leadership. INEC must do the right thing and conduct a free and fair election.”
