Elon Musk Says He Regrets His Posts, Went 'Too Far' On Scolding President Trump

June 11, 2025

Previously, Musk lashed out at Trump over the budget bill presented by the administration and passed by Congress.

Elon Musk, American billionaire and former aide to United States President, Donald Trump, has apologised for his statements toward Trump.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), which he owns, he admitted he had gone too far.

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," he posted on X.

Previously, Musk lashed out at Trump over the budget bill presented by the administration and passed by Congress.

He stated that without him, Trump would have lost the United States election, and went on to say the President lacks gratitude.

"Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate," he posted on X.

"Such ingratitude," he added.

He was commenting after Trump stated that he was disappointed in Musk for condemning the budget bill.

The BBC quoted Trump as speaking to reporters during a news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday.

He was quoted as saying:

"We are doing things in that bill that are unbelievable.I'm very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here," he said. "All of a sudden he had a problem."

"He hasn't said bad (things) about me personally, but I'm sure that'll be next."

Musk then went on to deny ever knowing the contents of the bill that was passed.

"False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!," Musk said in response to Trump's claim that he knew the workings of the bill.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that billionaire Elon Musk renewed his criticisms of President Donald Trump’s signature budget bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” in a series of social media posts.

On Tuesday, just days after leaving his post in the Trump administration, Musk launched yet another broadside against the legislation, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill.

The bill would extend tax cuts established in 2017, during Trump’s first term, and funnel more funds to his administration’s priorities, including $46.5 billion for the construction of barriers at the US border with Mexico.

"I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore."

"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

"Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it," he shared on his official X handle.

"It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America[n] citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt,” Musk said in one post.

In another, he wrote, “Congress is making America bankrupt.”

Amid the feud between the duo, Musk's personal wealth was reported to have dipped by $34 billion.

According to Bloomberg, the drop is the second-largest loss ever recorded in the history of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index of the 500 wealthiest people on the planet—aside from Musk’s own wipeout in November 2021.

It was also reported that last Thursday, Tesla shares fell 14%, ending the day at $284.70.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that Musk deleted a social media post alleging Trump's name was mentioned in the Jeffrey Epstein files, sparking speculation about their escalating feud.

Musk had claimed Trump's name in the files was the real reason they hadn't been made public, saying:

"Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"

The explosive post had come amid a bitter public clash between Musk and Trump, which began when Musk criticised Trump's "Big Beautiful" spending bill, calling it a "disgusting abomination."

The Epstein files refer to a collection of investigation documents compiled by US federal authorities after analysing Jeffrey Epstein's activities.

Epstein was a financier and convicted sex offender accused of running a network exploiting underage girls.

The files include flight logs, contact lists, court records, and other materials detailing his associations with high-profile individuals.

Some Epstein files were released in January 2024, following a US federal judge's order to unseal records from a 2015 defamation lawsuit.
