In a condolence message, the police command expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, describing the deceased as dedicated public servants who committed their lives to the service and safety of Gombe State.
The Gombe State Police Command has announced the death of the driver of the late Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd), who succumbed to injuries sustained in a fatal motor vehicle accident on Thursday, October 24, 2025.
Col. Bello, his police orderly, Corporal Adamu Hussaini, and their driver were returning from Maiduguri, Borno State, where the commissioner had attended a regional consultation on disarmament, demobilisation, and reintegration when the accident occurred along the Kwami-Malam Sidi-Gombe road.
In a condolence message, the police command expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, describing the deceased as dedicated public servants who committed their lives to the service and safety of Gombe State.
"The Gombe State Police Command wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Gombe State, as well as to the immediate families of the late Hon. Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd.), his police orderly CPL. Adamu Hussaini Gamawa, and their driver who died today 25th October 2025, while receiving treatment," the statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said.
Abdullahi, stated that the police deeply mourn the passing of these dedicated public servants, whose lives were devoted to the service and safety of the state.
"Their deaths are a great loss not only to their families but to the entire Gombe State and the nation at large," Abdullahi said, praying for the repose of their souls and for Allah to grant their families and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“The Commissioner of Police, officers, and men of the command pray for the repose of their souls and for Almighty Allah to grant their families, colleagues, and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“May their souls rest in perfect peace,” statement added.
