SaharaReporters had on October 4 reported that Omisore officially announced his intention to contest for the position of Governor of Osun State in the 2026 elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, October 4, 2025 and seen by SaharaReporters, Omisore had said, "After deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)."

He had noted that the journey was guided by the theme, “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”

Omisore expressed confidence in the collective capacity of Osun people to rebuild the state, saying, "I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission, it is a collective one."

The former Deputy Governor also called on supporters and party members to join him in what he described as a shared vision for renewal.

"I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026," he added.

Omisore contested in previous elections held in Osun  but lost the bid to become governor of the state.

He had also represented Osun East from 2003 to 2011 in the senate.
