The African Action Congress (AAC) has inaugurated a new National Working Committee (NWC), declaring a renewed, uncompromising battle against Nigeria's failed leadership that has plunged the contry into insecurity and poverty.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Rex Elanu, the AAC said the newly elected NWC represents a dynamic, resolutely revolutionary team entrusted with advancing the party’s mission to rescue Nigerians from a corrupt political class.
The party said its new leadership signals a fresh phase in its struggle for the total liberation of Nigerians, stressing that the suffering of citizens—ranging from hunger to collapsing public services—is not accidental, but the direct result of governance that has repeatedly neglected the people.
The statement read, "The AAC remains unwavering in its position that Nigerians deserve security, dignity, prosperity, and justice. We are fully aware that the suffering of our people is not accidental, it is the product of successive leaderships that failed to prioritise human welfare, national development, and transparent governance.
"As a revolutionary Political Party with welfarist ideology, we reaffirm our readiness to stand boldly, consistently, and fearlessly as the voice of the oppressed, the marginalized, the unemployed, the underpaid, and the insecure. The AAC exists for the people, not for the corrupt political class that continues to hold our nation hostage."
According to the party, the NWC has mapped out a series of core commitments to guide its activities in the coming months, including: "Strengthening nationwide grassroots mobilization to build a truly people-powered political force.
"Defending Nigerians against anti-people policies that worsen hunger, unemployment, and social insecurity. Deepening ideological clarity, ensuring that every action we take aligns with the vision of a just, equitable, and liberated Nigeria.
"Expanding our media and public engagement, giving voice to the struggles of ordinary citizens whose cries are often ignored by those in power. Championing bold reforms in governance, economy, and social welfare that places common Nigerians at the center of national development," Rex said.
The AAC warned that Nigeria is standing at a dangerous crossroads, insisting that the ruling political order has failed and continues to fail.
“The AAC offers a clear, uncompromising alternative,” the party said. “A Nigeria where leadership is accountable, resources benefit all, and power truly belongs to the people.”
The party called on workers, youth, students, professionals, market women, artisans and Nigerians in the diaspora to join what it described as a historic struggle to reclaim the country from corrupt interests.
“We call on Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora — workers, students, youth, market women, artisans, farmers, professionals — to join us in this renewed phase of our struggle. Liberation has never been handed down by the powerful; it has always been demanded, organised, and won by the people themselves.”
