Nigeria’s telecommunications giant, Globacom (Glo), on Tuesday announced the restoration of its data services after a nationwide outage that left millions of subscribers stranded for hours.
The disruption, which began around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, crippled internet access across major states.
In a statement by the company, Glo confirmed the incident and apologised for the blackout that paralysed connectivity in multiple states.
"Earlier today, a data service outage occurred nationwide, affecting connectivity across multiple locations," it said.
The telco explained that the outage affected customers across the federation, acknowledging the frustration it caused.
"The outage, which started at 08:30 a.m. on 09/12/2025, has now been resolved. We understand how important reliable data access is to you and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” it said.
"Our technical team has completed the recovery work, and services have been fully restored across all affected areas.
"Thank you for your patience and for choosing Glo. We truly appreciate you."
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that millions of Glo subscribers across Nigeria faced a widespread disruption on Tuesday as the telecom giant experiences a nationwide data service outage.
The outage affected data connectivity in multiple states, leaving users unable to access the internet or perform online transactions.
In a statement to customers, Glo acknowledged the disruption, apologising for the inconvenience and assuring subscribers that its technical team is working to restore services as quickly as possible.
"We understand how important reliable access is to you and sincerely apologise for the disruption.
