The National Association of Okpe Students (NAOS-National) has formally requested the immediate withdrawal of police officers currently attached to one Sunday Okeke Wankego in Sapele, Delta State.

The letter was signed by Itorho Ogheneovo Precious on behalf of NAOS-National.

In a letter dated 20th December 2025, addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, Sapele, the association stated: "We respectfully request the immediate withdrawal of police officers currently attached to Sunday Okeke Wankego in Sapele."

The association emphasised that the request aligns with directives from the presidency.

"This request aligns with the presidency's directive that all police officers should be withdrawn from individuals and redeployed to perform their official duties."

NAOS-National further accused the officers of being misused by Wankego, citing reports that they have been involved in a range of unlawful activities:

"Reports indicate that the attached police officers have been used by Sunday Okeke Wankego to: Cause terror, Cause harm, Support illegal activities, including public disturbances, extortion and other illicit businesses."

The association warned that the continued presence of these officers could facilitate further misconduct, urging authorities to act swiftly: "The continued presence of these officers may enable further unlawful activities. I urge prompt action to withdraw the officers and ensure they resume their official police duties. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

In videos seen by SaharaReporters, the association while protesting the continued attachment of Police personnel to Sunday, noted that the development was against the Presidential orders which mandated that all police personnel attached to VIPs be withdrawn .

"How can one person have such large numbers of police personnel attached to him despite presidential orders? We are demanding their withdrawal."

"The policemen appear idle and as such they should be deployed to where they are needed," the protesters noted.

The Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu, recently gave an order mandating withdrawal of policemen attached to all VIPs citing the urgent security needs in the country.
