The event, which combines a competitive road marathon with a non-competitive health walk, is aimed at promoting healthy living, youth engagement, and community bonding during the Christmas season.
The second edition of the Prince Adewole Adebayo Christmas Marathon and Queen Lillian Adebayo Health Walk, has been scheduled to hold on December 28, 2025, in Ondo City, Ondo State.
Organisers say the annual fitness and community-focused event, powered by Prince Adewole Adebayo and Queen Lillian Adebayo, will be bigger and more inclusive than its debut edition, with free registration open to participants of all ages.
The event, which combines a competitive road marathon with a non-competitive health walk, is aimed at promoting healthy living, youth engagement, and community bonding during the Christmas season.
It is expected to attract hundreds of runners, fitness enthusiasts, families, and professionals from across the state and beyond.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Prince Adewole Adebayo, a philanthropist and global policy advocate, described the marathon as more than a sporting competition.
“Our people deserve opportunities to experience wellness, unity, and the joy of shared purpose,” Adebayo said.
“This marathon is more than a race; it is a celebration of community and a reminder that good health is a gift we must protect.”
Participants in the marathon will compete for cash prizes in both male and female categories, with ₦2 million earmarked for winners, ₦1 million for second place, and ₦500,000 for third place. Consolation prizes will also be awarded to runners who finish between fourth and tenth positions, organisers said.
Running alongside the marathon is the Queen Lillian Adebayo Health Walk, a non-competitive wellness activity designed to encourage participation from families, youth groups, fitness clubs, and senior citizens.
Organisers noted that the maiden edition of the event recorded a strong turnout and widespread community support. For this year’s edition, improvements have been introduced, including enhanced safety measures, better route coordination, digital registration, and expanded cheer zones along the race course.
Interested participants can register at designated physical centres in Ondo City or online via the event’s official registration platform.
Beyond the race, the Christmas Marathon will feature entertainment, refreshments, medical support, and appearances by notable personalities, with organisers describing it as a unifying celebration ahead of the New Year.
The initiative is driven by Prince Adewole Adebayo, a legal expert and youth empowerment advocate, and Queen Lillian Adebayo, a campaigner for health, fitness, and women’s wellbeing.
