The suspects were arraigned on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, before the Chief Magistrate of the Lagos State Mobile Court on four-count charges.

Lagos State Mobile Courts have ordered the remand of six out of seven suspects accused of violently assaulting officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other government agencies during a coordinated midnight enforcement operation along Airport Road.

The suspects were arraigned on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, before the Chief Magistrate of the Lagos State Mobile Court on four-count charges.

While one defendant was granted bail after pleading not guilty, the remaining six were remanded in custody, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The case has been adjourned to February 19, 2026, for further hearing.

The enforcement operation, personally led by LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, was conducted in collaboration with security operatives, the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Corps, the Lagos State Task Force, and LASTMA field officers.

The exercise was prompted by multiple complaints from the Nigerian Airport Authority (NPA) about illegal encroachment and harassment by commercial bus operators and criminal syndicates along the airport corridor.

During the operation, five task force officers were attacked with dangerous weapons, and one NPA tow truck was set ablaze in a bid to sabotage the exercise.

Despite the aggression, the officers displayed professionalism and restraint while carrying out their duties.

“In the course of the operation, a total of 56 vehicles were impounded for various traffic and environmental infractions, comprising 44 commercial buses, five private vehicles and seven trucks,” the statement said.

Mr. Bakare-Oki reiterated the state’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure, ensuring the safety of road users, and enforcing law and order.

He warned that the government would not tolerate intimidation or violence from criminal elements and vowed that enforcement operations along strategic corridors of Lagos would continue in collaboration with sister agencies to curb criminality and safeguard lives and property.
