Kaduna Trader Arrested Over Facebook Post Criticising Governor Sani’s ‘Flouting Of Tinubu’s VIP Security Order’ Released

According to sources, Danhabu made the Facebook post highlighting that officials under Governor Sani, including commissioners, the Speaker, the Chief of Staff and other dignitaries, were still enjoying police protection.

A Kaduna State-based trader, Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Comrade Danhabu, who was arrested over a Facebook post criticising Governor Uba Sani’s alleged failure to enforce President Bola Tinubu’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP protection duties, has been released.

“This guy was released on Wednesday,” a credible source told SaharaReporters.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Danhabu, who is into the buying and selling of phone accessories, was arrested in the first week of December following a social media post in which he questioned why top government officials in Kaduna State continued to move around with police escorts despite the President’s order.

According to sources, Danhabu made the Facebook post highlighting that officials under Governor Sani, including commissioners, the Speaker, the Chief of Staff and other dignitaries, were still enjoying police protection.

Two days after making the post, Danhabu was arrested at the market where he operates his business and taken to the Kaduna State Police Headquarters.

SaharaReporters learnt that he was interrogated personally by the Commissioner of Police, who ordered his detention after receiving a phone call during the questioning.

“During the interrogation, the CP received a call, and after answering it, he ordered the officers to take Danhabu to a cell,” a family source said.

The source further alleged that Danhabu was later taken to a Magistrate Court rather than a High Court, where he was ordered to be remanded.

“We suspect the CP got orders from above. The next day, he was taken to Magistrate Court instead of High Court, and the judge made a judgment in his office, directing that he be remanded in prison until January 13, 2026,” the family source added.

The arrest sparked concern among family members, who said Danhabu was married with two children and that his elderly mother, said to be in poor health, was deeply affected by his detention.

In the Facebook post that led to his arrest, Danhabu wrote: “Up till now the government of Uba Sani has not stopped walking with police!

“Last week the President announced the withdrawal of security agencies that give some people in power, due to lack of officers and the rise of security that has threatened the country.

“But it is surprising that the governor who is close to the emulator of the president Senator Uba Sani has not stepped up to ensure that this law has started working in his state.

“Because up till now the officials working under the government of Uba Sani since chief of staff, SSG, speaker and all commissioners and others that have not stopped walking with police officers as their protectors. Although illegal, it’s a big offense since the President’s suspension.

“The law that allows police officers as protection is not more than the governor or deputy, but the government of Uba Sani has taken away from the presidential order to ensure the implementation of this law. Does the governor know about this or not?”
