Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, condemned the attack and called for urgent action by security agencies.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned the shooting of five Fulani youths by suspected Berom militias in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing the incident as a senseless and unprovoked attack on innocent civilians.

Five Fulani youths were reportedly critically injured after being shot near a filling station on Bukuru Express Road, close to Angle D, while returning from Bukuru Cattle Market, popularly known as Kara Market, on the evening of December 27, 2025.

According to a report by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the victims were inside their vehicle and approaching Anguldi Filling Station when the assailants suddenly opened fire on them without provocation, leaving all five youths with serious gunshot injuries.

The victims were identified as Abubakar Aji, Idi Saleh, Sulaiman, Nura Muhammad Detta and Dabo Abubakar. Security agents later rushed them to Jos University Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, condemned the attack and called for urgent action by security agencies.

“We strongly condemn this senseless and criminal act against innocent civilians and call on relevant security agencies to urgently investigate the incident, identify the perpetrators, and ensure they are brought to justice,” Yusuf said.

He also appealed to the Plateau State Government and security agencies to take proactive steps to prevent further attacks.

“We also urge the Plateau State Government and security authorities to strengthen security along major roads and commercial routes to prevent further attacks and protect the lives and property of all law-abiding citizens, regardless of their ethnic or religious background,” he added.

The MACBAN chairman described the shooting as part of a recurring pattern of attacks on Fulani travellers and pastoral communities across Plateau State, warning that continued inaction could further inflame tensions and fuel reprisal violence.

According to the report, the recent attack is suspected to be a retaliatory strike following the December 16 massacre at an artisanal mining site in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

In that earlier incident, gunmen suspected to Fulani bandits reportedly stormed a site in the Tosho community of Fann District, killing 12 miners and abducting three others. The assailants allegedly targeted the miners in a search for 171 cattle reported stolen from the Nding community on December 10.

However, MACBAN urged authorities to act decisively to restore confidence, ensure justice for the victims and prevent the cycle of violence from deepening across the state.

Attempts to reach Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages by the time of filing this report.
