The forum insisted that what was taking place at Elshaddai Clinic was “not innovation or skill acquisition,” but rather “quackery, pure and simple.”

The Elegant Nurses Forum has condemned the alleged illegal training, graduation and public presentation of unqualified individuals as nurses at Elshaddai Clinic in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, warning that the practice poses a grave threat to public health and human lives.

In a press statement issued on Monday and signed by Nurse Thomas Abiodun Olamide, the forum said the development was “a direct assault on the Nursing profession, public health, and the sanctity of human life.”

According to the group, nursing remains “a noble and globally regulated profession,” stressing that no private individual or health facility has the authority to train or certify nurses outside established legal and professional frameworks.

The forum insisted that what was taking place at Elshaddai Clinic was “not innovation or skill acquisition,” but rather “quackery, pure and simple.”

The statement warned that the practice “gravely endangers patient safety,” noting that untrained and unlicensed individuals masquerading as nurses were prone to errors capable of causing “severe complications, permanent disability, and avoidable deaths.”

The Elegant Nurses Forum described the situation as “an unacceptable threat to public safety and a violation of the fundamental right to life and quality healthcare.”

It also accused the Ogun State Ministry of Health of regulatory failure, alleging that officials responsible for enforcing standards had either “failed in their duty or actively enabled these illegal practices through corruption and willful negligence,” which it described as “indefensible.”

The forum further blamed the ruling party in the state, stating that “the APC-led government in Ogun State has once again demonstrated gross irresponsibility and a complete disregard for human lives by allowing quackery to flourish unchecked.”

According to the group, “a government that tolerates fake Nurses tolerates the killing of its own citizens by preventable means.”

The nurses’ body issued what it described as “clear and non-negotiable” demands, including the immediate closure of Elshaddai Clinic’s illegal nursing training operations, as well as the arrest, investigation and prosecution of those involved in training and presenting unqualified persons as nurses.

It also demanded the public identification and withdrawal of all individuals “illegally trained or paraded as Nurses by the clinic,” alongside disciplinary action, including dismissal and prosecution, of Ministry of Health officials found complicit.

The forum further called for a public statement from the Ogun State Government on steps being taken to eradicate quackery in the health sector and urged stronger enforcement mechanisms in collaboration with recognised nursing regulatory bodies.

“The Elegant Nurses Forum will not remain silent while the integrity of the Nursing profession is desecrated and innocent lives are placed at risk,” the statement read, adding that it stood firmly for “professional standards, patient safety, and justice.”

The statement concluded with a strong warning: “Enough of the impunity. Enough of the deaths. Enough of the lies.”
