The Ogun State Government has confirmed that two of the victims who died in the road accident involving Nigerian-British world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, were foreign nationals.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the state government expressed deep condolences to the families, friends and associates of the deceased, describing the incident as tragic and deeply painful.

Joshua reportedly narrowly escaped death in the accident, which claimed the lives of two persons.
According to preliminary reports, Joshua and three other individuals were travelling from Lagos to Sagamu when the incident occurred.
Two male foreign nationals were said to have died on the spot, while their remains have been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu.
Akinmade noted that Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were promptly rescued by security personnel attached to his convoy and taken to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
The sport utility vehicle conveying the occupants was said to have rammed into a stationary truck along the expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the accident to excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking.
While the severely damaged vehicle has been evacuated to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division (MTD) office, it was gathered that efforts are ongoing to tow the truck involved to the same location to enable a thorough investigation.
Describing the incident as “deeply unfortunate and painful,” the Ogun State Government lamented the loss of lives and noted that other victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical care.
The government urged motorists to exercise utmost caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season when vehicular movement is usually heavy.
It also called on road safety officers and other security agencies to intensify surveillance and enforcement across the state to ensure the safety of lives and property.
“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident, which the State considers a devastating loss,” Akinmade stated.
“As we mourn collectively, we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
