Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of former United States President John F. Kennedy, has died at the age of 35.

According to BBC, her family confirmed the development on Tuesday in a statement shared through the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, describing the loss as devastating.

“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” the family said.

Schlossberg, a journalist known for her work on climate and environmental issues, had publicly revealed in November that she was battling an aggressive form of cancer.

In a personal essay, she said doctors predicted she had less than a year to live.

She was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in May 2024, shortly after the birth of her second child. Writing in The New Yorker under the title “A Battle With My Blood,” she narrated her experience with chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and the emotional toll of the illness.

Her parents are Caroline Kennedy, a US diplomat and former ambassador, and Edwin Schlossberg, a designer.

The Kennedy family, one of the most prominent political dynasties in American history, has suffered several high-profile tragedies over the decades. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, while Schlossberg’s uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., died in a plane crash in 1999.
