Anthony Joshua's Accident: Nigerian Police Charge Lexus SUV Driver To Court

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Adeniyi Kayode, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the widely reported accident of renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, has been charged to court.

The development was disclosed in a brief statement issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi.

According to the police spokesperson, the court adjourned the case until January 20, 2026, to allow for further proceedings.

The police, however, did not provide additional details on the specific charges filed against the defendant or the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The statement read, "The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026."

SaharaReporters previously reported that the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the driver who conveyed world boxing champion Anthony Joshua in the vehicle involved in a tragic accident that killed two of his associates.

A brief statement signed by Babaseyi, on Thursday, revealed that the driver of the Lexus SUV is now in police custody as investigations intensify.

“The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case. Investigations are ongoing,” Babaseyi stated.
