A resident who witnessed the distribution told SaharaReporters that the exercise took place on Thursday, New Year’s Day, in his community in Yola.
A pro-Tinubu political group has distributed food items to residents of Yola, the Adamawa State capital, in what residents describe as an early attempt to court poor and vulnerable Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A resident who witnessed the distribution told SaharaReporters that the exercise took place on Thursday, New Year’s Day, in his community in Yola.

According to him, the food-sharing exercise was carried out by Hon. Dahiru Hammandikko, popularly known as Dan Kade Adamawa, who currently serves as Executive Director of Agricultural Services at the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority.
“Hon. Dahiru Hammandikko (Dan Kade Adamawa), Executive Director of Agricultural Services at Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, distributed food items (rice, spaghetti, noodles, and seasoning cubes) to vulnerable groups,” the source said.
He added that the event was organised by political groups loyal to President Bola Tinubu.
“It was organized by Tinubu Support Group in collaboration with Northern Region Support Group,” the resident stated.
The witness further confirmed that the distribution directly targeted impoverished residents in the area.
“It was in my immediate community. The beneficiaries are underprivileged people,” he said.
The development comes amid growing public anger over worsening security and economic conditions in the country.
On the same day, SaharaReporters reported several terror attacks that marred New Year celebrations across the country.
For instance, residents of Ipele community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State were thrown into panic on Thursday after suspected terrorists attacked and set a police station in the area ablaze.
SaharaReporters gathered that the attack occurred in the early hours of January 1, 2026, with the assailants targeting the police facility and burning it down during the assault.
The incident forced many residents to flee their homes and go into hiding as fear spread across the community.
A video obtained by SaharaReporters showed the police station engulfed in flames, while several vehicles parked within the premises were also set ablaze.
Similarly, gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia on Wednesday night attacked the Bum community in Chugwi, Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing at least seven people, injuring several others and setting houses ablaze.
The attack occurred while residents were observing crossover night on December 31, 2025, to usher in the New Year, throwing the community into chaos and grief.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, said the assailants exploited the New Year celebrations to launch the deadly assault.
