American rapper Daniel Hernandez, popularly known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, has turned himself in to begin serving a three-month federal prison sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release.
On Tuesday, January 6, 6ix9ine surrendered at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, where he is expected to spend approximately 90 days in custody, according to XXL Magazine.

Ahead of reporting to prison, videos reportedly circulated on social media showing the rapper removing his court-ordered ankle monitor with the help of social media influencers SteveWillDoIt and Adin Ross.
In the clip, 6ix9ine was reported to have jokingly referenced fleeing to Miami before entering custody.
He later captioned the post, “Thank you guys so much see you in 3 months.”
The latest sentence stems from multiple violations of the supervised release imposed after 6ix9ine served about one year in prison for his role in a 2018 racketeering (RICO) case involving the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

In March 2025, law enforcement officers discovered cocaine and MDMA at his South Florida residence during a police raid. He subsequently pleaded guilty to drug possession four months later.
While awaiting sentencing in the drug case, the rapper committed another violation after assaulting a man at a Palm Beach County mall in Florida, further compounding his legal troubles.
Federal prosecutors initially scheduled his sentencing for November, but the hearing was postponed following a violent break-in at his home.
During the incident, multiple masked gunmen reportedly ransacked the residence and briefly held his mother hostage.
In the weeks leading up to his surrender, 6ix9ine embarked on a media and promotional tour, appearing on several podcast platforms.
During a recent appearance on Adin Ross’ Kick livestream, the rapper stated that he was not suicidal, referencing the death of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein while addressing concerns about his safety.
Hernandez was formally sentenced on Friday to three months in federal prison after pleading guilty to the supervised release violations.
The court permitted him to self-report to the MDC in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, on January 6.
This marks the second time in just over a year that the rapper has been sentenced to prison for breaching the conditions of his supervised release.
In November 2024, he was sentenced to six weeks in custody after pleading guilty to five violations, including unauthorized travel to Las Vegas and Sarasota, Florida, repeated failures to comply with drug testing requirements, and testing positive for methamphetamines.
