The Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) has condemned the recent coordinated attacks on Jol community in Riyom Local Government Area and Gero in Gyel District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing them as acts of sustained terror against indigenous communities.

It was gathered that the attacks, which occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, claimed the lives of several persons, including Mr. Pius Luka Dida, Markus Danladi, Peter, and Acham Ayuba.

The BYM leader, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, described the killings as “a grim reminder of the sustained and systematic terror being unleashed on indigenous communities of Plateau State.”

In a press statement signed by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, the group accused the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) of complicity in the violence.

The association faulted the group’s chairman for what it described as a false claim that “Berom terrorists” attacked Fulani persons.

According to the statement, the attacks also resulted in widespread economic losses, with armed herders allegedly destroying dry-season farmlands in Kwi community.

“The attacks have also led to significant economic losses, with armed herders destroying dry-season farmlands in Kwi, inflicting losses of over ₦14 million on local farmers,” the statement read.

The Berom youth group demanded the immediate proscription of MACBAN and called for the arrest, investigation, and prosecution of its leadership.

“We urge security agencies and international bodies to investigate Ibrahim Yusuf and Miyetti Allah in Plateau State,” the group said.

The association further demanded immediate compensation for the families of those killed and affected farmers, as well as the deployment of adequate security personnel to protect vulnerable communities across the state.
