According to the budget proposal, N2.5 billion is earmarked for the procurement of State House operational vehicles, while N758 million is allocated specifically for the replacement of SUVs.
A SaharaReporters review of Nigeria’s 2026 budget has revealed that the Bola Tinubu Presidency plans to spend N3.3 billion on the purchase and replacement of vehicles.

According to the budget proposal, N2.5 billion is earmarked for the procurement of State House operational vehicles, while N758 million is allocated specifically for the replacement of SUVs.
Additionally, N115 million has been budgeted for the purchase of tyres for bullet-proof vehicles, plain cars, CCU vehicles, platform trucks, SUVs, ambulances, and other utility and operational vehicles.
Efforts to compare these figures with the Presidency's 2025 expenditure on tyres proved abortive, as the administration has failed to publish comprehensive data on last year's spending.
However, details in the 2025 budget document show that N3.6 billion was budgeted for the purchase of operational vehicles for the State House, while another N1 billion was allocated for the replacement of SUV vehicles.
This continued expenditure on SUVs and State House operations comes amid growing calls for prudence in the management of government resources.
In 2024, a review of the Govspend public payments portal by SaharaReporters revealed significant tyre-related expenditures by the Tinubu Presidency.
It was found that N366 million was spent on tyres over a span of three days, with payments made on May 21, 2024, June 22, 2023, and June 24, 2023.
On June 22, 2023, a single-day expenditure of N42.8 million was recorded for State House tyres. Another N86.2 million was spent on tyres on June 24, 2023. The description for the purchase read: “Purchase of tyres for State House.”
Two payments were recorded on May 21, 2024. The Presidency spent N38 million on the supply of five armoured/bullet-proof tyres (S600/222, 255-720-R490AC).
An additional N200.5 million was spent on tyres for bullet-proof vehicles for the State House in Abuja.
In total, the Presidency spent N366 million over three days on tyres, according to details from the Govspend platform.
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that documents from the public payments portal, Govspend, showed that the Nigerian Presidency spent N5.1 billion on the purchase of vehicles between August 18 and September 9, 2024, representing a period of 21 days.
Data published on the Govspend website showed that the State House paid N3.4 billion on August 18, 2024, for the purchase of sixteen 2023/2024 model Toyota Prado vehicles for the State House, Abuja.
This implies that each Prado cost N212 million.
On September 9, 2024, another N1.7 billion was spent on the purchase of ten Toyota Camry V4, 2023 models for the State House.
